October of 2019 marked the centennial of the birth of Boston University Law graduate, Edward M. Brooke, who blazed a trail across the 20th century as a decorated military officer, an attorney, a crusading Massachusetts Attorney General, the first African-American ever elected to that position in any state in the nation. and as a Senator from Massachusetts, the first black popularly elected to that role in US history.
Now a mostly forgotten figure, local historian Alan Earls, will delivered his compelling and informative talk and slide presentation covering Brooke’s fascinating life and, in particular, his role in Massachusetts and the nation during the Civil Rights era and beyond.
